¶ Player Search
Player search is one of the most powerful tools in 4040 Baseball.
It allows you to find any active player or free-agent by almost any criteria that's important to you. From the results you can launch trade offers, or make contract offers to free-agents.
¶ Example Searches
The best way to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of the player search is to play around with it. Below are a few examples to get you going.
¶ Example: Find Free-Agents
When you first load the player search it is already in free-agent mode.
The settings to narrow search results to free-agents are under the Include setting:
- Free Agents: checked
- Players On Teams: unchecked
¶ Example: Find Players On the Trade Block
The settings to narrow results to the trade are block under the Include and Limit Results settings:
- Free Agents: unchecked
- Players On Teams: checked
- Players On Trade Block: checked
¶ Example: Find Players On A Specific Team
The setting to narrow results to a specific team is under the Limit Results settings:
- Select the team from the Players On Team drop down
¶ Example: Find By Position
The settings to narrow results to a specific position are under the Filter Players settings:
- Select the position from the Pos drop down
- Include When Secondary Pos: checked if you want to include players who play this as a secondary position
¶ Example: Find By Ratings
The settings to narrow results to a specific position are under the Filter Players settings:
- Specify the minimum ratings you are interested in

¶ Launch A Trade Offer
For players on other teams, you will see a button below their name labaled Propose Trade. Use this to launch a trade offer for that player.

For free-agents, click the salary amountin the Contract column to launch an offer.
