Summary: Trading for a loss in quality can result in a bonus compensatory prospect during the amateur draft.
If you have a high-quality player who you are unable to find a satisfactory trade deal for, the Compensatory Draft Pool (CDP) offers another way to gain more value in return.
The CDP is a pool of solid prospects who are awarded to qualifying teams during the amateur draft.
The full CDP list is viewable from the league menu.
- In your trade proposal you offer a player badged as +Compensatory Possible in the GM Notes;
- If the GM accepts your proposal, you will see an indication as to how many (if any) CDP Prospects the trade will earn your team;
- When the next amateur draft completes, you will also receive however many CDP Prospects you have earned. Those prospects will be randomly selected--you have no control over which prospects you receive.
- Can help replenish your farm system when trading at a loss;
- Boosts the return value when trading a qualifying player for Lottery Ticket(s) by adding a CDP prospect later on.
- A player who is traded away must have a +Compensatory badge. Not every player qualifies for earning your team a prospect from the CDP.
- The player(s) acquired in return must be of significantly lower quality than the player traded away. The GM’s response will indicate if your team will be awarded any compensatory prospect(s).
- Any prospect awarded to your team is randomly selected--you have no control over which player(s) you receive.
- Trades with human teams do not qualify.
